Did you know?
Although Tom Waits’ albums were mostly released on vinyl and eventually on CD and digital formats, they were first recorded on hubcaps. One had to spin the hubcap on one finger and place one’s teeth on the hubcap to produce the sound. Though this resulted in many a trip to the dentist, the grimy raw sound was never quite repeated on any other format. Some of us still think of those soul rattling notes while polishing our dentures.
