Thaughmment Wiaeghchts

by

Did you know?

Tom Waits’ original name is Thaughmment Wiaeghchts, however, the Gaelic beauty of the name was lost on anybody’s tongue but Tom’s himself, with reported cases of seizures amongst those who tried to pronounce the full name correctly. Being a humanist, we now know Thaughmment Wiaeghchts simply as Tom Waits.

Hey, cool blog! Gonna see Tom Waits in Milano on the 17th July, can’t wait. Flying out from the UK to see him while he bothers to tour in Europe. What do you reckon the dress code will be at Teatro degli Arcimboldi? I’ve been giving this some thought as the man derserves respect and an adequate attire to welcome him 🙂 I’m thinking Charlotte Rampling in “The Night Porter”: loose men-cut trousers, suspenders (evocative of his clownish attitude and the line “justice wears suspenders and a powdered wig”), and a top, of course, (I’m not going rampling-total), messy brown hair sparkling with glitter…. Open to sugestions!

Thanks! Wish I could have your wardrobe worries since going to see Tom Waits live doesn’t seem a likely thing in the near future for me 😦

    Someday…

Well, had to wait till my 29th for this as well (think I first came across his music at 15, so it’s been a long 14 years wait for Waits :-)) I promise to return here and report back on the gig. Who knows, I may even be able to take some pics.

Hi there! Never break a promise 🙂 This blog is still a fun place!
The concert was out of this world. Highlight: Tom Traubert’s Blues (Waltzing Matilda). Completely unexpected as I didn’t see this in any set list before Milan’s.
Founds a live streaming of his gig in Atlanta here if you’re interested:
