Quan-Tom Mechanics

October 4, 2010

Did you know?

Tom Waits’ body was once used by experimental physicists as a sub-atomic particle accelerator.¬†Unfortunately, the behavior of the particles as they entered Tom became so erratic that the experiments were stopped for fear of creating a black hole. Nowadays Tom’s body is only used for accelerating whiskey, though the amount of whiskey consumed may suggest that the scientists might have caught on to the danger a little too late.

The Waits effect

Did you know?

Tom Waits has no fingerprints. Those have been burned off by a lifetime of careless cigarette handling. The only mark Waits leaves behind is shot glass rings and electromagnetic instability, better known to physicists as the “Waits effect”. Currently, astro-physicists are working on a theory linking the Waits effect with the creation of black holes. Waits’ comment on the matter was that the only black holes he creates are in his own memory.
